Travel Baseball: Baseball season is fast approaching. For players who desire a more competitive experience against teams in the greater Springfield area (John L Sullivan and Tri-Town Leagues), the Longmeadow Baseball Association is for you. We have under-9, under-11, and under-13 teams, all coached by experienced and dedicated individuals. Spring tryouts will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Greenwood Park, time schedule to be determined. All returning players and new players pre-selected in the Fall 2014 need not attend tryouts. New, returning, AND potential players (those planning to attend March 14 evaluations) should sign up during one of our upcoming open registration dates listed below.
The Longmeadow Softball program is run through the New England Youth Sports Association (NEYSA), and offers the opportunity for girls in grades 1-8 to play in a program designed to teach the game of softball in a fun environment and eventually progress to an increasingly structured and competitive setting. For children in Grades 1&2, the program is in-town and instructional (focusing on basic skill development) with a few games at the end of the season. Beyond Grade 2, children are evaluated to play on a travel team at U10, U12, and U14 age levels and all will be placed on a team. Travel is to local communities in and around Longmeadow and families should expect children to play 1-2 games per week for a total of 10-12 games per season.
Registration: Both BASEBALL and SOFTBALL signups will take place at the Community House on the following dates: Saturday, January 31, 2015 – 9:00-11:00am; Wednesday, February 11, 2015 – 7:00-9:00pm; and Saturday, February 21, 2015 – 9:00-11:00am. New players must provide a copy of a CERTIFIED birth certificate with their registration. All of the registration forms, plus more information about the league can be found on our website: www.longmeadowbaseballsoftball.org.
